Thank you for the replies on a train from Memmingen (Allgaeu Airport) to Fussen. I'm wondering if it might be quicker to take a bus to Fussen or rent a car?

This option does not exist.
With very very few exceptions buses are only used in Germany to connect places not served by trains with the next train stops/knots.

In most cases: yes. But the route autobahn A7 Memmingen - Füssen - Fernpass is a major north-south route and during vacation times the traffic collapses frequently around Füssen as there the autobahn ends.

You can travel from Allgäu airport to Füssen using the Bavaria Ticket. This day ticket covers regional trains and the buses. Valid
Mo-Fr: from 9am to 3am next day
Sa,Su: from midnight till 3am next day
Bavaria Ticket Single (1 person) EUR 20,00
Bavaria Ticket (2-5 persons) EUR 28,00

By the time you have organised renting a car you might as well have caught the train, to be honest.

If you only want to go to Füssen and Neuschwanstein I would take the train. If you want to explore the region I would rent a car despite the risk of getting into a traffic jam.

Hi, my husband & I are looking to make the same journey on 27 or 28th June. is anyone else travelling on these dates (ie new ryanair flights !!) I believe the train tickets covers up to 5 people, so would work uot much cheaper to team up :-)

You should start a new thread, so more people than just the ones who have been involved in this thread would see it, and your chance of finding fellow travellers is higher.
