Thinking about going to florida in july and renting a villa for 2 or 3 days. Would like to know since i read it,if you have to pay a $500 security deposit for this amount of time? Has anyone stayed at the Vista Cay villa and what was that like? Thank you

The security deposit is to cover any damages done. Obviously you can cause damage in a couple of days so it most likely will be expected. Haven't stayed at Vista Cay. Happy Travels!

The payment of a security deposit is pretty standard practice everywhere.
It is intended to cover serious and/or extensive damage to the property. Having seen the appalling destruction left by holidaymakers in my sisters's holiday rental home I am not surprised.

However if you should accidentally break something like a plate or glass most owners are satisfied if you replace it with as close a match as you can find.
I once broke the lid of a Pyrex casserole, could not buy a separate lid so bought a new casserole. The French owner was so surprised and pleased she absolutely insisted on paying me for it!
The simple rule is to treat your holiday home with the same care and respect you treat your own. Hope you have a good and breakage free trip!
