Costa Rica how to spend the last two days??
Posted: Sat April 18, 2009 01:11 AM UTC
Hi All,

We are trying to figure out how to spend the last two days of our trip / honeymoon.

This is a llitle far off yet as our trip is not until next February but I like to plan early and be done with it.

We are going to be spending four days in Montezuma and then four days in drake day, minus a travel day to each spot. We will leave Drake bay on a thursday and do not leave San Jose until Saturday afternoon.

We were in Montezuma and Arenal this past February and found that Arenal was a little to toristy for our liking so I am unsure of Manuel Antonio as it would be the obviuos choice between Drake bay and San jose, but am still open to it.
By the time we leave Drake bay and arrive at our destination I realize that we will only have one and a half days before leaving.

Any sugusstions would be appreciated. Also we will not have a car so we would arrange a driver or fly.

Thanks in advance

A catamarran cruise? A chartered boat to an unoccupied beach? Looking for a piece of art or a special holiday ornament or a collection that could be added to each year? A balloon ride?

Manuel Antionio is a beautiful place on Pacific, that would be a lot oftraveling from San Jose to Manuel for 1 1/2 days.
suggest you go to a website for Costa Rican contact: infocostarica.com
I have no affiliation with this website, but we do travel to Costa Rica and
found this website is very helpful.

I say you skip on MA if you thought Arenal was to touristy. MA is expensive and very touristy but also very beautiful.
There is a great driver/guide that did our transfers the past 2 trips and his rates were better than the rest and he was super helpful and punctual.

He lives in La Fortuna but drives all over CR

he speaks perfect English and is a very safe driver

he is also a wonderful guide and got us great discounts when we booked tours and showed us the local spots in La Fortuna for free. I snagged his name off tripadvisor because he was mentioned several times.

I would suggest Tortuguero. My husband and I went there on our honeymoon. It is a tourist spot but... it is difficult to be all that touristy when plopped in the middle of the jungle. We stayed at Tortuga Lodge and it was great. We kayaked the canals (where the boats can't go) with one other couple and a guide, we visited the town which was really really amazing... We also got taken over to the beach and dropped off with with the promise that the boat operator would be back in two hours (or how ever long we wanted) we were literally the only people on the beach, 20 mine long beach, there were turtle eggs and turtle tracks all over it was amazing.Very very very personalized there.

We were there for two nights, but a one night option is great to!
