If you enter the country you need permission to get in even if you don't want to see the Pyramids. The visa stamp is available at the airport just after you enter the terminal from your flight. The cost is about $15.00 USD. Not sure where you are going to land but if you are going to Sharm you will probably have to stop in Cairo and connect with your flight to Sharm. In which case you will need a visa stamp to get in. There is a window to buy it when you arrive, before you pick your bags up at luggage carousel.

Hi, been to Nabq 3 times and never had a visa. At the airport all the reps are just outside the terminal. Make sure you collect all your luggage before leaving the terminal as you will have trouble getting back in. If you need a taxi they are right outside too, make sure you agree a price before getting in.
You only need a visa if you are leaving Sinai peninsula, eg- Luxor, Cairo etc.
Hope this helps.

If you plan to stay within the region of the Sinai desert you will not need a visa!

When you are in the plane a small form will be handed out. You need to fill in your personalia, passport number, where you will stay, why you are in Egypt and where you want to go. This is nothing strange, a lot of countries I visited have the same procedure.
When you fill in the form on where you will stay just write: SINAI ONLY. Than you will not need a visa, you can just go through passport control with the form and your passport.

HOWEVER!!!! There are places near Sharm that do require a visa! Ras Mohamed National Park is one of them. Ras Mohamed is a very popular dive and snorkling place and even though people might say it is safe to go there without a visa: it is not!! When caught being there without the stamp in your passport you will be in serious trouble.

St. Catherines Monastery and the Moses Mountain, as well as the Coloured Canyon, are safe to go without the visa.

Hope this helps, Dora.
