how far? Posted: Wed April 15, 2009 10:11 PM UTC
have been trying to look for some where to stay in chaweng that is right by all the shopping but still on the beach. how far away is chaweng lake have seen a few nice places around that area but not sure if its in walking distance to everything as id rather just be able to walk. how long does it take from either end of chaweng to the centre? any suggestions on accommadation would be great on the cheaper side would be good too.

Depending on which side of the lake you are refering to, the distance for walking could be just minutes to almost an hour. If you are looking at hotels like Nora Lakeview, it would be located almost to the center of Chaweng.
If you are looking for hotels in Chaweng beach, try P&P. Their prices are quite reasonable depending on the length of stay. It ranges from 800 baht to 1,500 baht per night.
From either end, it will take about 30 min to walk to the center of Chaweng. For night life, it is closer to the north end and not the center. Most of the shopping is also located from the center to the north end of Chaweng.
If you need more information, drop me a note.

we stayed at a place called chaweng beach/garden resort. unfortunately they don't have a website, but they are down a little roas opposite burger king on the main road (can't miss it). we got a taxi and asked him to take us to a couple of places to check out before we decided. as we wen in june, there were plenty of options. our resort was on the beach and less than a minute stroll to the main strip with shopping, restaurants, night life - perfect!

hi there, no, i don't think so. this is way posher than what we stayed at. our place was quite basic but nice. just a room and bathroom really, like an apartment, but it suited what we needed. a bar fridge, aircon (a must!) and a decent bathroom. we had 3 single beds in our room. the location was brilliant and a few steps away was the really pleasant outdoor restaurant facing the beach. in the evenings they set out a dining area in front, practically in the water! freash salads, grilled seafood, etc.... after dinner we could head down the beachfront to places with music and shows or alternatively head towards the main clubbing/shopping strip. you really can't go wrong location-wise if this is what you are looking for from a stay in chaweng. G*D wish i was going back-so much fo global recession!
