Paraguay Travel Forum

Oi gente,

I am planning a visit to Paraguay latter this summer, and would like suggestions on two issues...a visa, and a hotel in Asuncion. As a US citizen, can I get a visa for Paraguay at the border...or in Buenos Aires? How long does it take to get one from the consulate?

As for hotels, I would prefer a smaller one, in or near the center of town. Thanks for the help!

You must apply in advance, but not sure if they would accept your application in Buenos Aires or not, the consulate in Los Angeles covers the western US so here is the contact information for them

I would file your application with them and not risk the chance of being turned down in Buenos Aires.

Hola Sam,

Thank you for the extensive answer. Your information helped me formulate plans for my upcoming trip.

I hope that people appreciate your many great answers about travel in Argentina and surrounding areas! I have used many of your suggestions on previous trips, and have usually found them to be just what I needed. On my next down to BA....this coming August....I will be accompanied by my children (both of drinking age!), so I will be looking forward to getting some guidance from you about the bar/dancing scene.
