hi,i will arrive in Islamabad by air in the earlymorning , i would like to take(weather permitting)the flight to Gilgit in the same day, do anybody know if is possible and where can i advance booking that?

p.s.
that is the contact you could have, they are the only one they go to Gilgit, you won't find as a scheduled flight because Pakistan International Airlines flights to Gilgit are subject to the clearance of weather.
(in winter are often delayed by several days)

The flights fo Gilgit are always full and they are totally subject to weather.
For the flight, one has to make a reservation, almost a week before the departure.

And better to keep almost 2 hrs gap between your arrival in Islamabad and then the departure to Gilgit.

i will arrive at 3 am and i hope to have enough time to catch it,anyway i tried to book from www.piac.com.pk but the seats are unavailable in any date,i have to book in the airport?

Hi,

You'll have to make a reservation a week before your deaprture from Islamabad-Gilgit and someone will have to pick the ticket from the PIA office in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, a day before the flight.

if you're able to get a Web-ticket (as well elettronic one), you should not need to collect your ticket as you already got it.

of course you need
1. Original Photo ID (CNIC or Passport)
2. Printout of web ticket receipt/itinerary
very very important!!
3. Original Credit Card used for web ticket transaction
I heard that quite a few airlines require to see the C/C you used for buying your ticket, do not forget it! otherwise you loose money and flight ticket.

cgf you are right, this is the procedure used worldwide, but forget about PIA flights to Northern Areas if you are tight with schedule. Booking, then picking up the ticket and again getting it confirmed from their office in Rawalpindi a day earlier in really miserable. I have never managed to hop on a flight to Skardu or Gilgit, simply becasue I am not from Rawalpindi and always short of ample time... still a dream.

I was in Nepal last week and was lucky to board on an 18 seater plane bound for Everest Safari. Procedure was simple, on the day of my arrival, I purchased a ticket from a tour operator who advised me to be at the airport very early in the morning next day. I was the first to arrive at the airport in pitch dark and on first come first serve basis I was able to board.... so simple.

i just call the PIA's booking office in Milan, they told me the only way to book Gilgit cause the weather is in Islamabad (or in Pakistan i suppose)..

AS I'd already mentioned it, you could get it only in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, not somewhere else.

The same thing is with Chitral, if one is planning it from abroad, better to make a reservation in Islamabad or Peshawar, a week prior to departure and get the ticket from the PIA office in Sadar Rawalpindi or Blue area Islamabad.

Thanks everybody for all the replies,i will try to ask for a place when i land in Islamabad but i figure i have to get a bus..
could you give some advices for to get the bus station from the airport and which is the best departure hour?

Hi,

It is different from other aiprort, the buses and coaches are not allowed there due to security reasons, you could just take a taxi from there, the best is Radiocab, go to the counter of Radiocan tell them about your hoetl they will charge you 400 to 600 Pkrs to any place in Islamabad or Rawalpindi.
