My boyfriend and I will be on the Gold Coast for just over a week in early May and we would like some advice on where to stay. We're looking for a place somewhere in the under $30 per person price range. Has anyone been to a really great hostel that they would like to recommend?
Also, other than surfing, any advice on what sorts of things we should really try to do/see while there?

My daughter always uses Gold Coast International Backpackers Hostel..They are just off Cavill Mall, and within 3 minutes of nightclubs,Surfers Paradise beach etc...They have rooms that have their own bathroom and nice gardens and a big kitchen..check out their website to see if its what you are looking for.

We stayed at the Coolangatts yha, Its located right next door to the airport and although lots of planes the noise didn't bother us. Its quieter then the Surfer's Paradise one which is generally known as the Party house.

What to see, well there's the theme parks, and try and do the Outback Spectacular Show, oh the guys at the coolangatta also give free transport to the best surfing spots.
