Chicago Going out on your own in Chicago!

Hi, I will be in Chicago for a few days in June and I was hoping for some advice on the best places to go if you are on your own at night. I am 39 years old and I was thinking of good bars that play live music or any place that you wouldn't stand out if you were on your own. Thanks Martin p.s I am staying in streeterville.
