Which hostel location is better? Posted: Fri April 10, 2009 08:38 AM UTC
Hello my good friends at VT!. I need to find a good well located hostel in Tel Aviv. I came across two I like:
The Gordon Inn and The Old Jaffa Hostel. I was looking for something more centrally located with shops, people, beach, restauraunt, markets, downtown, the centre of the city. The gordon Inn seems to be the best although the Old Jaffa Hostel seems to have a very nice mystique about it but seems to be far away from the centre of the city on Amiad street?.
Let me know your thoughts...Jaffa seems nice but far from the downtown

gordon inn is gfairly expensive and not really a hostel.
there used to be a gordon hostel but it byrned down a few years ago.
old jaffa hostel has a good location, but it's not right on the beach.
it will take you around 10 minutes to walk to the beach from there.
i personally like momos hostel in central tel aviv.
it's a fairly simple place, but it's cheap and located right in the middle of the action.

Hello!
Both of these hostels have good locations, but in different parts of the city.
Both of them are 8-10 min walk from the beach promenade.
The Old Jaffa hostel is right in the center of Jaffa, the old nucleus of the Arab city, now a mixed Arab-Jewish area. It's close to the flea market, the art galleries of old Jaffa, and the Neve-Tzedek neighborhood.
The Gordon Inn is on Ben Yehusa St, one of the main streets of Tel-Aviv, nearer to the nicer beaches.
Bus # 10 actually connects these 2 areas, and will also take you to other interesting parts of the city.
Enjoy Tel-Aviv, it's a great city!

Thanks for your comments!
One last thing, what do you think about Subkuchmilega Hostel 22 Hamashbir St. Tel-Aviv...is that close to the centre of the city/beach/buses/shops and is it a good neighbourhood?

Hi Dave,
Hamashbir St. is not far from the central bus station of Tel-Aviv, and near Allenby St., which is a main commercial street; you can get buses to everywhere from there, but it's definitely NOT a good area or a pleasant area to walk. It's quite far from the beach (30 min walking).

I stayed in HaYarkon 48 (I think it was) for two nights - it depends if you're a seasoned hostel stayer. It was clean and simple and well located to the CBD. They have a website.
In saying that I am not a hostel person and chose not to stay in any more hostels in my time in Israel instead picking midrange hotels such as the Dan Hotel chain in Haifa/Tel Aviv/Jerusalem.
Good luck.
