Union Territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Travel Forum

I will go to the Andaman Island in Feb. or March 2004. Unfortunaly i have only 2 mayby 3 Weeks holiday.
What is the best way to the Island. It is also possible to fly over Thailand or Malysia.

And the important question. Where is the best Place to stay. I' m looking for a quiet and natural Beach with smal Bungalow or Huts and good for snorkling.

The Andaman islands are a part of India. I think there is a steamer service or flights from Calcutta to Port Blair.
Check out VT member Donrafa's page. He is a Brazilian who has gone to the Andamans.
Unfortunately it is a rather remore part of India and I do not have too much information on it regarding snorkelling.

yes, I just saw rafagoes' page on Andaman. Didn't know about these Islands, they are gorgeous! rafa has a tip that seems great for accommodation, and other tips too.

One more thing to consider is that the Andaman Islands are classified as restricted territory- which means that you positively need a permit from the Indian government to go there. This might take a lot of time to get.
If you are interested in pristine coral reefs and clear blue lagoons, could you consider the Lakshadweep islands (Laccadive) on the west coast of India. The access issue might be easier there.
