Lake District National Park Scenic Picnic spot in or around windermere
Posted: Wed April 8, 2009 01:38 PM UTC
Dear All,

Could you suggest any nice picnic spot for having lunch in Windermere or around windermere ( 5 miles or so) We are reaching winderemere at around 11.30- 12.00 but our checkin time in the B&B is after 1. So we are planning to have our packed lunch in some open area, preferably scenic place.

Thanks for all the help given to me in arranging this.

cheers....
RK...

best thing to do is drop your bags at your B & B and ask the opinion of the owner as to which direction is best from there

enjoy windermere

A lot depends on just when you will be there and the weather conditions.
There is a regular boat trip that runs up and down the lake.
If it is sunny then that would be a pleasant way to spend a few hours, just sitting on the top deck of the boat, munching lunch and watching the beautiful scenery pass by.
Will you have any transport available to you?
If yes, then go along the road, South, towards Newby Bridge and shortly before getting there you will see signs for 'Gommers How' on your left. A fantstic viwepoint for the whole of the lake.

Further note on Gommer's How.
If the weather is not clear - forget it.
