From Novi Sad best, fastest & cheapest is to get train to Zagreb, and from there bus to Split.
www.zeleznicesrbije.com for time tables to Zagreb.
Once you get to Zagreb you can get bus, timetables & prices for Split,on Zagreb's bus station site. All can be found at www.akz.hr
Happy travels.

How about taking the bus back to Belgrade and change to the bus to Split? Bus is the most common means of tranpsortation there, it is not expensive and usually much better than the trains. I took a quick glance and it seems there are 2 buses from BEG to SPU daily, departing at 19/20 h. Novi Sad to Belgrade is also not a problem, as there are few buses per hour... There is a direct bus line from Novi Sad to Split every day. The bus leaves at 10pm from Novi Sad, and arrives to Split at 1.30pm the following day (approximately 13 hours journey). The ticket is 3980 dinars, which is around 42 euro at the moment. Since you will be traveling during the tourist season, it might be a good idea to book the ticket few days before your trit. That can easily be done at the bus station in Novi Sad.
Hope this was helpful,

Andrea

Hi, do you have details for the return bus? And a website / phone number to book on?

Am looking to travel from Split to Novi Sad on Wednesday 8th July for Exit. I have found an 8am bus (https://www.eufest.com/exit/transport), but would like to find an afternoon one so we are travelling overnight...

The alternative is looking like a long train journey via Zagreb...

Thanks.

There is only one direct line from Split to Novi Sad daily and that's what you found. The alternative is to take a bus from Split to Belgrade, and then from Belgrade to Novi Sad.
There are 2 buses daily from Split for Belgrade. Leaving at 20.30h and 22h, and arriving to Belgrade at 9am and 9.30am.
Then from Belgrade you have buses for Novi Sad every 15min or so, and the journey takes 1h15min.
