Midi-Pyrénées Weekend Break
Posted: Sun November 16, 2003 03:02 PM UTC
Hi all,

Klod hopefully you can help me here, all your information is really usefull and informative.

me and two friends have managed to get a cheap flight to toulouse for the weekend, arriving monday and returning on monday.

we are students, what can we expect to do on a fairly tight budget, what markets are on while we are theere and what are some of the best sights to see for free, any good cafes or bars that may be cheap,

lots of questions i know but were on a bit of whistle stop tour!!!

cheers in advance

Lots of things to do in Toulouse and the surrounding area. Churches: les Jacobins and St Sernin. There' s also a cathedral. Botanic garden. Art galleries. Take a stroll along the Canal du Midi. Visit Aerospatiale (advance bookings with passport details only, in case you're a terrorist) day trips by train to Albi (great cathedral and Toulouse-Lautrec museum) and Carcassonne. Toulouse is a big university town, so the student places will offer good value. Toulouse sausage is good - bad luck if you're a vegetarian.

Markets - all French towns have markets anyway - I don't know if there's a special one for Christmas etc.
