hi there, does anyone know any decent cheap (backpacker style) accommodation in Frederikshavn? We'll be there in January for just a night or two and I'd like to find an ok hostel/b and b/similar.

I think you cheapest option is Frederikshavn Vandrehjem (hostel). More info on their website www.danhostel.dk/vandrerhjem.asp?lan=uk.

Why stop there just because the ferries do??? Just curious. It's perfectly OK but there are more lively places in Denmark :-)

Please talk nice about Frederikshavn - it's the city where I grew up and lived for 16 years!!!

Ok, I agree, there is not much to see during wintertime. No beach, the city is dead. Skagen is a much better choice in my opinion.

Haha, there you see! :-) But no, I haven't said a bad word! I've had fun in Frederikshavn many times having grown up in Göteborg. Even behaved all the time and avoided being seen as a drunk Swede :-) And there are good things...the ferry to Laeso ;-)

thanks for the advice. turns out we didn't spend a night in frederikshavn after all. instead we went to skagen, which was really nice...verrrry windy!
