Looking for an inexpensive hotel near dock but still near shops, restaurants etc. Assuming can get a taxi from hotel to the dock the next day. Will be with an elderly person who can't walk great distances. Any help would really be appreciated. Never traveled without a group before so this is the first time "on our own" for a little bit.

there are no hotels right next to the docks as they are a bit away from the center, but this place is right by all the shopping and a short cab ride from the docks:

When are you going?

I am leaving from Copenhagen on a cruise on June 12th. We are flying in to arrive June 10th to give us some time to see the city and get over our jet lab. I wanted to stay at the Cab Inn City which is near Tivoli as Tivoli was something I definitely wanted to do. But on that date, reservations were absolutely impossible to get. My travel agent eventually got me a place at the Saga Hotel.

I think a taxi will be the way we will go, although the Saga (and the Cab Inn City) are both near the train station, so we could come in from the airport on the train if we wanted to. The Radisson is also in that area. Samantha Brown on the Travel Channel stayed at The Square Hotel which also seems to be in a good location.

yaxis are very easy to get.
just ask at the reception at your hotel and they will call one for you for free.

the bethel hotel by the way is right by the metro station "kongens nytorv" where you have a direct metro line to the airport from every 5 minutes.

and the hotel is a former seamans mission that has now been turned in to a hotel.
