Mauritius Honeymoon in first week of July
Posted: Fri April 3, 2009 01:52 PM UTC
Hi,

My partner and I are planning to go for our honeymoon from June 30th - July 6th. Could anyone please let us know what area is good to stay during that time frame? We were deciding between Sands resort and Le Meriden. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Hey,

Go to Meridian or Victoria which is in the same street.
Its very beautiful and is in a good position.
Because from their you can go to Port Louis or Grand Baie or my favourite place in the world Trou Aux Biches.
But it all depends on what you like, I love mauritius, because i love going around on my scooter and lazing on the beach and bargaining hard at the local markets and spending time with Mauritians as they are all so welcoming and nice.
but some people wont be able to stand the wild dogs and the poor people and crazy traffic.
If you dont like that side you should go to le morne or the east coast. But the where le meridian or victoria is. Is good because you can have the best of bost worlds. Stay at a resort and see the real mauritius also.

Hi,
First I have to mention Le Morne is in the south west not the east coast. (Previous post said east)
We are going to Sands in 3 weeks. June to July stick to west and north west as windy on east and south coasts and cooler.
Le Meridien is a huge hotel in the north west, and if you stay there you would be better getting a room in their adults only Nirvana rooms.
Sands is smaller, more intimate and lovel with huge rooms and bathrooms in a romantic scenic location overlooking Tamarin Bay and Le Morne mountain. A lovely backdrop of mountains too. The small town of Flic en Flac is close by, with shops, bars, restaurants and Spar supermarket.
Meridien is a 20 minute drive from the larger town of Grand Baie.
I would opt for Sands!

Krissy :)

Both places are good and also other hotels too. There are standards here that's why we can say that much of the stars hotel are very good.

Only places are the beach and the sea which are different.

Between Meridien & sands... the beach is both almost the same. A little preference for the meridien for the beach and the sea... just a little.

But at Sands Resorts you'll get a better sun set and scenery with the Le Morne mountain.

Have a nice stay. may God bless you and your couple.

I have stayed at Meridien, the hotel is really nice and Grand Baie is just few minutes away where you can enjoy some night out. Enjoy your homeymoon.
