hello
i am going to amman and want to make a day trip to jerusalem,
1) what time is the king hussain border open
2) i want to go see the temple mount and the mosque, are you allowed to see the rock?
3) at what times can you see it?
4) i have heard that people who are muslim have a hard time entering through customs (have a canadian passport) is that true? and if you want to go in the mosque i heard you are only allowed to go if you are a muslim, do they require any proof? (i am a east indian muslim)
5) is jerusalem a safe place to visit?
6) how much is it to have a taxi usually from amman to the border and is it easy to get a taxi back to amman?
7) can you hire the taxi from the isreal side to the 2 sites i want to go to and back to the border? usually how much would it cost?
8) would i be able to go to the 2 areas i want to go to (temple mount, and mosque) and back again?
9) how long do you wait at the border for?
10) are the isreal forms you need to fill out for canadians available online to print so it fast tracks the process and can the money you have to pay at the border be paid by master card at the border
11) how far is the temple mount from the isreali border
12) can you get the multi jordan visa on arrival at the airport as the one entry visa
13) do you have to pay anything when reentering jordan with a multi visa? and how much?
14) if you have to take another taxi back from jerusalem to the border is it easy? and how much would it be? should you bargain?

1) what time is the king hussain border open
A: see: http://www.iaa.gov.il/Rashat/en-US/Borders/NeharYarden/

2) i want to go see the temple mount and the mosque, are you allowed to see the rock?
3) at what times can you see it?
A: Non Muslims can see the Temple Mount during the morning hours Sunday - Thursday, *usually*. Muslims have a different gate and they can go in at any time, *usually*. Also Muslims are permitted to enter the Shrine and view the rock.
NOTE: Permission to go up onto the Mount is dependent on the situation at any given time. Either the Wakf of Jerusalem, or the Israeli police may close it at any time for various reasons. It is necessary to inquire at the gate on the day that you want to visit if it is permitted.

4) i have heard that people who are muslim have a hard time entering through customs (have a canadian passport) is that true?
A: There will be extra questions at the border. Answer truthfully and keep your cool. If you are just a normal tourist you will be admitted. If they suspect that you are not a normal tourist you many be refused entry.

A:and if you want to go in the mosque i heard you are only allowed to go if you are a muslim, do they require any proof? (i am a east indian muslim)

Anyone may go up on the Temple Mount, but Muslims are permitted at any time from their own gate, as opposed to non-Muslims that have restricted visiting hours.
Yes, they do require proof of your religion.
NOTE: As above, the Mount may be closed on any given day my either the Wakf of Jerusalem or the Israeli Police.

5) is jerusalem a safe place to visit?
A: Yes

6) how much is it to have a taxi usually from amman to the border and is it easy to get a taxi back to amman?
A: I don't know.

7) can you hire the taxi from the isreal side to the 2 sites i want to go to and back to the border? usually how much would it cost?
A: Yes, taxis are available. But better are the group taxis from the border to Jerusalem. They will drop you at the entrance to the Old City. Don't know how much it costs.

8) would i be able to go to the 2 areas i want to go to (temple mount, and mosque) and back again?
A: Depends on the day (Not Friday, Saturday because the border closes early).
Actually I doubt if you could make the trip in one day. I think that at least one overnight will be required in Jerusalem.

9) how long do you wait at the border for?
A: That depends entirely on the situation at the border on that day and on the questions you are asked and how you answer.

10) are the isreal forms you need to fill out for canadians available online to print so it fast tracks the process and can the money you have to pay at the border be paid by master card at the border
A: The Israeli forms are not available on-line afaik. I believe that you are required to pay in cash.

11) how far is the temple mount from the isreali border
A: Not applicable. From Amman to Jerusalem is only 44 km *IF* you are a bird. The trip is long because the roads are not straight and the border crossing takes time.

12) can you get the multi jordan visa on arrival at the airport as the one entry visa
A: See: www.jordanjubilee.com

13) do you have to pay anything when reentering jordan with a multi visa? and how much?
A: As above - see: www.jordanjubilee.com

14) if you have to take another taxi back from jerusalem to the border is it easy? and how much would it be? should you bargain?
A: See: http://www.jordanjubilee.com/travelme/toisrael.htm

15) are there any holidays that would affect transport or the border from 15th june to 17th june
A: Not on the Israeli side. I don't know about the Jordanian side.

It is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to do all that in one day. You'll need an overnight in Jerusalem. This is because the King Hussein/Allenby Bridge crossing closes early. See the info on the "jordanjubilee" site, as mentioned above.

There should be no problems for a Canadian-passport-holding, bone fide tourist crossing the border, although this crossing is noted for being relatively slow - you cross within an hour or much longer. Most of the factors involved are beyond your control.

Good luck!

Not just impossible but it would be an injustice to Jerusalem to see it all in one day (if you could).
