Hotel shuttle buses at FLL Posted: Thu April 2, 2009 12:29 PM UTC
Hi
My mobile (cell) phone does not work on US networks so could anyone tell me if there are courtesy phones in the airport concourse, from which you can request a pickup by the hotel shuttle buses, or do you have to use the public payphones?
Thanks

Yes there is a phone. However, if you just go outside there is actually a shuttle service that will take you to your hotel....sorry I can't remember the cost of the journey...but it was a lot cheaper than a taxi fare.

There should be a kiosk with phones near the baggage claim with direct lines to a variety of hotels that have shuttles. You can pick up a pay-as-you-go phone for about $10 USD and add airtime for $20 for 60 minutes at any drug store or big-box (Tareget, Wal-Mart, K Mart, Best Buy) store near your hotel. Net10 offers the phone and 300 minutes for $30.

If you have a reservation at a hotel, I'd suggest going to their website and finding out whether they have a free shuttle and how you contact them. It will be different for different hotels. For instance the Sleep Inn and Suites says on their website that they provide free transportation to the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. and to the Port Everglades from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. I did call them from the airport on a cell phone - mostly to find out where to go to get the shuttle.
