I've never been out of the SE USA and I'm leaving for Germany. I'm excited, but it's also kind of scary. I'm supose to go from Leipzig to Mannheim by train. Can you tell me what train this is I'm supose to be traveling by and how I can find out more info. abt getting around Europe?

Hi, don't be scared, Germany is not so big!
A good webpage is

www.deutschebahn.de

It's the German railway page and you just need to put in two cities and the date and time, and it'll find connections for you. Also, you can just go to the information centre at the train station and they print out any connection you want.
If you have more questions, just write!
Best!
Eva

Hi, the website mentioned also offers information for trains to and from other european countries. Another options to cover longer distances (fairly) cheap are chaep airline carriers like Ryan Air (www.ryanair.com), Easyjet (www.easyjet.com) or for example in Germany Air Berlin or German Wings, there are quite a few more. A third good option (especially towards central and eastern Europe) are the Eurolines busses. Though not always a pleasure to stay in a bus for 30 hours...

Enjoy your trip, P.

Hi Allie,

as Eva already said, travelling in Germany by train is very easy! On the mentioned webside you find the schedule. I recommend to take an ICE train, it is the fastest one and I believe there is a direct connection between Leipzig to Frankfurt and from Frankfurt to Mannheim are also direct trains to Mannheim. So you have to change the train only once.

An other option than train would be the agency for arranged lifts (http://www.mitfahrzentrale.de/title.php) I used it already several times.

Have fun in Germany
Barbara
