You are going early in the season, and many of campgrounds are not open yet that time of the year, however, the park is also not crowded that time of the year, so the campgrounds that are open should be relatively quiet. Check this link to see which campgrounds are open on your dates. Click the campgrounds name for a look at the campgrounds. Unfortunately the only one that is open, and also close to the beautiful lake, is Fishing Bridge, but it is not only the most expensive, it is also the one that caters to all the big RVs that need full hook-ups, so I am not sure you would enjoy that. I haven't been in to look at this one in years, but I don't think any of the sites are actually on water, and many really have no privacy, but the lake is close by. Another choice would be Slough Creek, which is a small campground, and one that is first-come-first only. It is up in Lamar valley in the north end of the park, and pretty far from all the sites, store, etc. although you may hear wolves howling at night. There are some trees here, but also a lot of open sage meadow land. A creek runs through there, and in the spring should be flowing pretty hard. I am pretty sure some of the sites are on the creek. This is designated for tents and small RVs, so you should be able to fit. Slew Creek is not on the interactive map, but it is about 5 mile east of tower Junction. Be aware, however that you have to drive down a 2-1/2 mile dirt road to get to the campground, and this is a primitive campground-no electricity, showers, or dump. There are out houses, and a couple of hand pumps for water.
