Last time we went, 2 years ago it was ok, although they will do a quick search of them before you enter any park.

Yes you can take them into any of the parks, lockers are available inside if you don't want to carry them around all day. They will be checked at the gates though and i'm pretty sure you can't take glass inside.

I had the same question a few weeks ago. Yes you can take packs and can take food and water. You can be searched. No alcohol, no glass and no straws- even juice boxes with straws. Disneyland in CA is a different proposition, evidently. You can't bring things in there.

Disney is going green. (er) I was going to get a large balloon placed in my room as a surprise for a little girl. As of a week ago, they no longer provide this service. Also, they no longer have the service where Disney characters will call on the phone and talk with children.

I don't know if it will effect balloon sales in the parks. I wonder if part of the cut backs in services may have to do with economic decisions. I intend to ask this week while I am there.

Hope you have a great time- in the happiest place on earth!

There's lots of websites listing prohibited items in Disney, including attire. However, just note that they also look at the "size" of the backpack/napsack (unusually BIG ones!)

From Prohibited Items in Disney: http://www.wdwinfo.com/tips_for_touring/dress-code.htm

Items with wheels, such as wagons, skateboards, scooters, inline skates, shoes with built-in wheels, two-wheeled or three-wheeled conveyances, strollers larger than 36" x 52", suitcases, coolers, or backpacks with or without wheels larger than 24" long x 15" wide x 18" high (coolers required for medication may be stored in a locker or at Guest Relations), and any trailer-like object that is pushed or towed by an ECV wheelchair or stroller

I heard a good tip one time to speed you through the bag check area, If possible, buy clear plastic backpacks at home and then they know you are not trying to sneak any thing bad into park and will speed your check time. I believe their official policy might be no food or drink but they are nice enough not to enforce it. We always took sandwiches, water bottles, etc. Seedless grapes in a ziplock bag are a lifesaver when you are waiting in a hot line.
