We are planning a vacation in Kilwa Masoko i November this year. Is there anyone who have any experience with the hotel Jimbiza Kilwa Masoko? I would also like to know if Kilwa Masoko is a place to stay for about a week. Is there anyone who have any recommandations about what to see in Kilwa?

I have much experience about kilwa as when i was in college we sty there for two weeks.Kilwa Kisiwani Island was once the trading centre of the Swahili empire. The ruins of the settlement still remain and are considered to be one of the most important Swahili historical sites in East Africa. The famous traveller and chronicler Ibn Battuta visited Kilwa in the 14th century, describing his admiration for the architecture and graceful situation of the capital city. Later the island became a trading post for slaves travelling north from Mauritius and Mozambique. The end of the town’s supremacy as a trading port came when it was sacked by a tribe of cannibals in 1588.

Thank you for your reply. The trip to Kilwa is already ordred, and any information we can get is good information :-).

We've heard that it is a "small" rainseason in November. How much do it usually rain this time a year?

Is there anything spesially you recommend us to see while we are in Kilwa?

Best regards
Stine
