Hi everyone

We plan to fly into Toronto from Quebec for a couple of days in early October as we want to see Niagra Falls before heading back home to Australia. (I am assuming that flying into Toronto would optimise our time in Toronto, but I'm open to suggestions).

(1) Could you please tell me if there is a shuttle service from the airport to major hotels in the city (and return)? If so, any idea of cost each way/per person and if it is recommended that I book it in advance?

(2) I've seen reference to trains to Niagra Falls in this forum. I was wondering if they are reliable, and how often they run from Toronto, how long does the journey take and any idea of the cost (return ticket)?? And finally, what is the return service like to Toronto?

You don't say which City in Quebec you will fly to Toronto from. If it is Montreal, It might be better to rent a car and go see the Falls before flying back to OZ. As I recall, it is about a 4 hour drive. By having a car, all your difficulties with public transport are taken care of. You would rent the car with a planned dropoff at Toronto Airport. It might be cheaper than flying and public transport, and certainly more convenient.

(1) There is an Airporter bus that connects the airport to several downtown hotels. The cost is about C$17 each way. It runs every 30 minutes.
(2) I agree that it is probably better to rent a car to Niagara Falls. The drive each way should take about 2 hours. Only snag may be parking in Niagara Falls once you get there. Although there are some public parking right across from the Falls itself, the charge is quite hefty [in my opinio].

If from Montreal, it is a 4 to 6 hour drive which isn't bad because you just take one highway (hwy 401) once you get out of Quebec province and will take you all the way to Hwy 404 and lead you all the way to downtown Toronto. It's a pretty smooth drive too. There is also shuttle service from the airport to the entrance of Fairmount Hotel on Front Street in Toronto which is centre of all the attractions. That is the end stop of the shuttle bus service which cost about $17. I don't recall knowing any trains that goes to Niagara Falls but there are tours available in the city that will take you there and stay overnight for gambling & sightseeing. It is only a 1.5 to 2 hours drive from Toronto. It depends if you want to rent a car to see attractions just outside of the Toronto area. I hope that helps!!!
