Re: PUBLIC TRANSPORT FROM FLORENCE TO PISA (TOWER) AND AIRPORT Posted: Fri March 27, 2009 07:18 PM UTC
Yes.
Look at www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html . You will see frequent regional trains going from Florence to Pisa all day long. The trip is a little more than an hour, as I recall.
Note: when you look at the site, choose a date next week rather than in June; the schedules are typically not very accurate or available more than 60 days in advance, but since the schedules also don't change a lot over the year, this will give you a good idea of what will be available.
Once you are at Pisa Centrale, you can walk to the Piazza dei Miracoli (where the Tower and Duomo are) in 30 minutes or a little less, or you can take a city bus (I don't remember the number but I know people have posted it here), or take a taxi (there are always taxis at train stations of any size).
From the Piazza dei Miracoli, you do the reverse trip, because the airport is close in-town, on the other side of the train station. From Pisa Centrale, you can take a city bus or a taxi or even the train to the airport, because the airport has its own train station. Of course, you can also look for a taxi stand near the Piazza dei Miracoli and take a taxi straight to the airport (might be safer if you are pressed for time).
make sense?
