Mexico City Any recommended private tour guide for a 2-day Mexico city?
Posted: Thu March 26, 2009 02:03 AM UTC
I am going on a business trip to Mexico city and would love to extend my trip by 2 more days to explore the city as well as to visit the Pyramid of the Sun nearby. I do not wish to travel alone and am looking for a private tour guide, english speaking that can help learn more (and not just visit) the places. Timing is Apr. 17-18. Any recommnedations?

It's a good bet to contact the hotel where you will be staying and ask if they could arrange for a private car/driver ... I would ask for the driver first. I have done this in many places - China, Istanbul, Argentina. I am also a woman traveling alone. I find that hotels in the Starwood chain are usually the best - but I've had responses from some Hiltons too.

thank you very much. I will probably also continue to search for a private guide and arrange it before i get there.

Well, I don't know if you're looking for a professional tour guide or just a city dweller would do. I could try to be your guide and I guess you wouldn't have such a bad time LOL. What were you expecting to pay for this service? What is the kind of places that you would like to see: museums? churches? just walk around to admire the architecture? special places such as xochimilco? would you want to move around by car all the time or are you ok with using public transportation? I know of some cab drivers that would work for you the entire day but wouldn't be able to really act as tour guides.... Greetings.
