Can anyone recommend a good dentist in Rio? Preferably in or near Centro? The last dentist I saw here did a bit of a botch job...any advice very much appreciated!

I didn't actually need any work done when I visited him for a check-up last year, but he seemed pleasant and competent, and had been recommended.

I'm not from Rio de Janeiro but I got a site that may help you in finding some brazilian dentist.

Try to open www.cfo.org.br --> It's the Federal Odontology Council. Naturally is written in portuguese.
Afterward click at the left side the words "Profissionais/Entidades" (this mean Professionals/Entities).
Next image on screen click on "Profissionais por Especialidade" (specialist).
At CRO field digit "Rio de Janeiro". At Especialidade field you may find the work you need in lots
of odontologist works (X-ray, prosthesis, odontology for children and elder, repairing, surgery, tooth pulp and roots, and so on). Click the specialist you need and latter at go key.
A lot of dentists working in Rio de Janeiro will be in screen. You may choose one. I know the question is not solved yet for you but it's half done.
Maybe you may get in touch with CFO members by Internet in order to get the one you need.
The brazilians dentists are well known around the world.

Try Dr. Pedro Lage - tel. 2548.1151. He´s been my dentist for all my life and I´m pretty sure he has a good command of english.

I highly recommend Dr. Priscila Barreto if you need an English speaking dentist in Rio de Janeiro. She handles everything from cosmetic dentistry to a root canal. And she is very gentle!
