Which beach to stay at? Posted: Tue March 24, 2009 08:30 AM UTC
We will arrive in Ko Samui Thursday and am wondering which beach to stay on? My wife and I would like a beachfront hut (nothing fancy) where we can just lounge around for a few days, preferrably at a shallow, clear beach with not too many people.
With that said I'm ruling out Chaweng as our base but will visit. What do you think would be the best beach for this?
South Lamai, Manaem, Bo Phut, Big Buddha? And why?
Any beachfront hut recommendations along with the beach?

Hi,
If you like a beachfront hut (nothing fancy).
I recommented location Bo Phut.Because the Bo Phut area not far airport. Only about 10-minute drive from Samui International Airport.and only 10 km (6 miles) away from the city center. My friends stay at Bo Phut Resort & Spa on Feb 2009.This hotel will have a choice of Pool or Beachfront Villas, Ocean View- and Garden Villas in a contemporary and Tropical Style, or Deluxe rooms with Ocean View or Garden View.

We stayed at Moonhut Bungalows on Maenam beach about 5 years ago. It was nice and quiet, and one of the most memorable places I've ever stayed at. The rooms are pretty plain and simple. Ask for the beachfront bungalow. It's seriously only 3-4 metres from the water. Awesome.

I suggest Samui Palm Beach Resort located Bophut Beach This is a good place for kids and families. The Accommodation and location were fine.

If you like somewhere quiet, I would suggest Choeng Mon Beach. This is a little bay and is very beautiful. You can try Samui Honey bangalows or Choengmon Beach Bangalows.
And if you want to go to Chaweng, you can catch a taxi there. But I have to say that taxis from these places to Chaweng are expensive. It is the same if you stay in any of those places you have listed.
