Hi - cheapest is bus (Greyhound, Trailways) - 10 hours about US $80 one way. Train (Amtrak) looks to be about US $120 and takes 13 hours with a change of trains. Plane (Continental, Air Canada) takes about 1 1/2 hours (flying time) and would cost around $140. Happy Travels!

One of the things about Porter Airline is that it flies from the Toronto Island Airport (foot of Bathurst St, with a connector bus from the Royal York hotel, or take the Queen's Quay streetcar) so you save the time and expenses of flying out of Pearson airport (Toronto International). Their prices seem better than from the larger carriers. However, you fly to Newark, NOT JFK or LaGuardia, if that makes a difference to you.

Another option for bus transportation would be Megabus. They offer $1 one way fares at select times and even outside of their deals, the prices are very reasonable.

I didn't realize Megabus did this route. I've taken Megabus between NYC and Boston before. They have some really good deals. The Toronto-NYC trip would take about 12 hours. I'd book early if you decide to go this way as the tickets go fast.

Thanks Jats - thats a great tip for budget travellers. We like to take the bus or train considering the bit of adventure it offers. Why not if you could save money at the same time. Will look for online booking? Thanks again.
