Kuwait visa on arrival?
Posted: Mon March 23, 2009 08:02 AM UTC
I have a flight with Kuwait airways-transit in Kuwait.
I would like to know if anyone was able to get a 24-hour visa on arrival in Kuwait airport to rest up before taking the flight the next morning?
any suggestions on "budget" hotels for overnight?

Yes, you can get a tourist Visa for up to 90 days. Once you get off of the airplane in Kuwait City, you will take a right hand turn and proceed a long way towards the baggage pick up area downstairs. At the top of the stairs is the Visa station. Go to the right side and take a number. Then ask someone there to make a copy of your passport for you. The copy machine is right there at the number dispenser. There is no charge for the copy. Once your number is displayed you go to the counter and give them your passport and address where you will be staying. The fee is 3 KD, (around $10 US) you must have KD. There is an exchange counter across from the visa counter if you need it. After they take your papers and information you will need to wait for them to call you back to the left side of the counter where they will give you back your passport and fresh 90 Visa. you may at this point go down the stairs to claim your baggage. Oh, beware of the little guys in the blue jump suits. They are quite a nuisance by trying to carry your luggage for you, or quite helpful if you need this, but they expect a tip.

I found an inexpensive hotel at: http://www.wcities.com/en/record/33,339073/476/record.html

for you located near the airport it is:

Hawali Continental
Hawali Qutiba Street, P.O. Box 21047
Safat,
13071

Neighborhood: Safat

Phone: +965 2614 7714
Fax: +965 261 4770

For an inexpensive stay in one of the world’s richest cities, step into the Hawali Continental. This hotel is great, if you traveling with family and need to watch your money. The modern building houses a small lobby and garden and 21 comfortable guestrooms. The rooms may not be too large, but are clean and come equipped with a TV and air conditioning. You can dine in the hotel’s restaurant, or if you are here for a while, the hotel will provide you with cooking utensils. The best part about the Hawali Continental is its proximity to the airport, the main shopping areas as well as numerous restaurants.

Rooms & Charges
21 rooms in total. Singles From KWD 14. Check In: 3p.

Services & Facilities
Minibar, Laundry Service, Television, Parking, Air Conditioning.

I hope this is in time for your trip, and I hope this helps!

I'm also going to be in the same situation: I have less than 24 hours in Kuwait, on my way to Bangladesh, and I would like to get a visa on arrival and go to a hotel to get some rest.
HOWEVER: I know that only 33 countries are entitled to enter Kuwait without a visa. The rest have to apply to an embassy, which is difficult as you need a letter of invitation, etc. So, are you sure that everyone can now get a visa on arrival at the airport?????

Thanks for your help

Chris,
I am not sure if there are certain countries that are restricted from obtaining visas in Kuwait. I am from the USA and we were authorized to get one, I assumed that there were no restrictions for most people. I hope I didn't screw anyone up with their travel plans. You can visit:

http://www.kuwaitiah.net/ministry.html

there is the complete instructions in which the Kuwaiti Gov't will authorize entry. I hope this helps, and good luck,
John
