Munich Sites to See
Posted: Mon March 23, 2009 01:39 AM UTC
I am spending three nights in Munich the first week of May to kick off my 17 day trip. I haven't really firmed up what I want to see other than Dachau and trying to weasel my way into the Bayern Munich game. I would appreciate any suggestions of interesting sites to see. I hear Mike's Bike Tours gives a good tour.

Yes, Mike's Bike Tours are great. I did both the city bike tour and the Castle tour. Both were a lot of fun and a great way to meet other travelers. After the City bike tour, i met up with some people from the tour later to go to the Hofbrahaus. You can see the Hofburg, visit the English Garden, walk up and down the main pedestrain road(it ends at the New Town Hall). Metro is very easy and convenient to use.

Since you don't list travel interests on your home page, the simplest thing for you to do is probably to access the Travel Guide for Munich here on VT. You can do so by clicking on "Travel Guides" in the brown toolbar at the top of most VT pages. All the member tips, photos, and videos regarding Munich will be located there. If you have further questions on something you find there, simply make an additional post in that regard. Bayern Muenchen does have a web site. It will likely cover how to acquire a ticket. Most all football teams in Europe will usually release a few tickets for the public, often the day before the fixture. You can't count on that though. If you can acquire a ticket through a broker, it will not be cheap. Gary

For a day (or two) I would recommend the Deutches Museum.
Walking distance from the city centre (Rathaus) and it has everything in there.
