Hi,

I am planning to visit Chiang Mai/Rai in end of September 2009.

I understand that it will be a rainy season in Chaing Mai/Rai during September. I just wondering will it be any floods happen during September month? Anyone has ecountered this when visited Chaing Mai/Rai in September?

Please advise. Thanks.

September is almost end for rainy season in the North of Thailand (Chiangmai/Chiangrai) and flood should not be a big issue during September for the North.
Hope this is of help.

The rainy season in Chiang Mai runs from mid-April to mid-November.

And when it does rain, it's often in the late afternoon/early evening. Being from Seattle, I don't find it to be a problem at all; I 'just go'.

September? - Last year wasn't bad, but in '05 the Ping River flooded three times.

The first flood was called a '100-year event flood', but I don't recall what they called the next two: a 'one-week event flood', and a ...

One was especially bad, as it flooded all the way to, and including, the Night Bazaar.

However, the rest of the city, had NO PROBLEM at all.

Chiang Mai is a wonderful city, and I hope you enjoy your visit.
