I will be coming from a North American flight and I was wondering if hotels near the Munich international airport can check me in by 6am anyone? I know in Spain they are liberal about any time checkin as long as it's not in August/September high season. I also know in North America they are less liberal to this policy, and in Italy they never have the room ready unless you know someone there or bargain to go only if they have it ready. Any help on Munich?

I don't think there are any rules.

It depends very much on the individual hotel, whether they have 24-hour reception staff and how busy they are.

I think you will just have to email the hotels which appeal and see if they can check you in early. The official tourist info site:

will give you hotels.

I've checked in early in Italy, France and Germany by the way.....but not as early as 6am.

They generally publish anywhere from noon to 2pm check ins, but I would inquire when you find the one you would like to stay at. If you are looking for a place to put your bags while you are starting your munich adventures you can always see if they can hold your bags until check in time(some do this).

If your hotel is actually close to the airport you may be lucky as other guests will be checking out early for their flights. I would phone the Hotel and ask about this as I remember arriving in London after a flight from Australia and having to walk around for 6 hours before I could have my room, I honestly thought I was going to drop dead!
If you are booking on the internet there is usually a box for comments and I,d add your comment about early checkin there.

We had the exact same situation last November with an arrival at 6 am and a connecting flight at 10 pm in Munich.

The Holiday Inn Express offers what they call a day rate, meaning that they let you use the room until 2 pm. We got in a 6am and slept until noon and beat the jetlag. It was so worth it, The other good thing is that they charge a special fare of 65 euros only.

It is about a 5-minute cab ride (8 euros) from the airport.
