Republic of Montenegro Asking for travelling by bus advice
Posted: Sat March 21, 2009 05:59 PM UTC
Hello everybody! This is the first time i use virtualtourist.com, and i think it is something very helpfull. What I'm up to is a trip from Larissa,Greece to Dubrovnik,Croatia. I have found most links, but not yet anything referring to the route between Shkoder,Albania and Podgoritsa,Montenegro. I think there are regular bus routes from Podgoritsa to Hergec Novi or Dubrovnik.

any information is most welcomed,
thanking in advance,

sotiris

Kalimera Sotiris & Welome to the VT,
Lets see, there is no bus on the Hai i Hotit crossing between Podgorica & Shkoder.
You have to take taxi to the border from Podgorica and furgon /taxi (latter more expencive) to Shkoder. Only consolation is that the nature around the Skadar lake is breathtaking!
When you are looking for furgon make sure you negotiate the price & most of the Albanians on the North do not speak English, but Italian. You might find hard to comunicate. Also as you are comming from Albania, make sure you have your recept for paying €10 Visa/Tax as you will need it to produce it on exit.
Here is tel nos in Podgorica for Taxi to come & pick you up from the crossing. BTW the crossing is about 12 km from town.

will charge you initial fee of €2 + €0.50 per km.
just for compareson Podgorica-Budva is €40
There is a bus wich goes from Bar to Dubrovnik, via Ulcinj,Budva, Kotor, Igalo, Herceg Novi. It is one of the most scenic routes I have seen. Around the Bay of Kotor.
Dubrovnik's Libertas Bus company operates the bus.
Leaves from Dubrovnik at 10.30am & 20.30pm Monday-Wenesday-Saterday.
Time tables can be found on: www.libertasdubrovnik.com
Hope this answered some of your questions.
Happy travels.
