Cologne Cologne Questions

I will be travelling to cologne next week for a fair and since the entire world is converging there, no hotels are available now for less than 350 EU.

I have booked myself at a guest house in Bruhl near Cologne.

what is the best way of getting from Cologne airport to Bruhl. I will be carrying heavy luggage.

And then from Bruhl to Cologne Fair?

Is it practical to stay in Bruhl since I would be going every day to cologne and back or should I try to find something closer.

Thanks

Hi,

during fairs hotel rates go crazy here in Cologne. Thus stay in Brühl! To get there from the airport:
Take the train(station in the airport)to Cologne Main Station (german: Hauptbahnhof or HBf))There are 2 options: either the S-Bahn 13 direction "Horrem" or the Regional Express (RE)direction Mönchengladbach. Tickts you have to get in the machines! Travel time 15 min.
From Cologne Hauptbahnhof you take the RE 11 direction "Koblenz"; travel time to Brühl is 15 min.
To daily go to the fair you take the RE from Brühl to Hauptbahnhof and either walk to the fair (10 min): bridge across the river, or take any S-Bahn or RB or RE to East (next staion is already the fair (Station: "Köln Deutz"). Get on site information on this.
Second option from Brühl to the fair is the tram No 18 to Cologne Hbf (travel time 30 min.)and then walk.
For more info: trains (RE,RB, S-Bahn): http://www.bahn.de/international/view/en/index.shtml in English
For tram: http://www.kvb-koeln.de/german/fahrplan/linienplan.html# some parts are in English as well.

DB timetable
http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en
From: CGN
To: Bruehl

From: Bruehl
To: Koeln Deutz/Messe

Please not the spelling of Brühl. You can use either Brühl or Bruehl. Bruhl is not a correct form.

Single ticket Cologne to Brühl is EUR 3,30.
This is a zone-to-zone local public transport ticket. Covers regional trains, S-Bahn, trams and buses.

Your trade fair admission ticket covers however local public transport to Cologne Fair (Köln Messe).

Cologne/Brühl rail network map
Brühl is served by regional trains. And also by tram (#18). This tram line has several stops in Brühl. But with the trains you're faster in Cologne.

If you have some time and are in Brühl anyway:

Thank you. Yes my admission ticket will cover all the local transport.
I will have an extra day in cologne/Bruehl so looking forward to seeing some sights. Also any recommendations on good pubs?

Thanks

Luckily I got Hotel Muller near the Cologne Hbf through a last minute website so I booked that.

Thanks for all your responses anyway.
