hi.. im coming in April 2nd week.

1. what would weather be like?
2. wher will i get budget accomodation and good area to stay..?
3. what are things to do / not to miss
4. how to get there from bkk, other than air
5. how to go to phuket from there besides air

any help appreciated

1:The weather should be fine in April.
2:Check out Chaweng beach.
3:Rent a bycycle or motorbike and drive around,big buddha,explore waterfals.
4:By bus or train to Surrathani.
5:Phuket_Samui airc. bus(Cheap)

1. I think the weather it ok.
2. I suggest the hotel in location chaweng beach such as Chaba Cabana Beach Resort is nice resort good location.
3. See anywhere around the island such as Hin Ta Hin Yai, Waterfall, Zoo, Big Buddha Temple, Buffalo Show, Elephant Trekking etc...
4. by bus, airplane, boat.
5. by bus or by van.

1...Should be ok..some rain but not enough to spoil it.

2...You`ll probably find that Lamai Beach will have more budget accom than Chaweng Beach.These 2 places are the most popular on Samui.

3...Big Buddha..Mummified Monk..Butterly far..Namuang waterfalls 1 & 2 etc

4...Train or bus to Surathani then ferry across to Samui.Allow 14 -15 hrs this way.

5...Ferry to Surathani then aircon bus or minvan .Allow around 8 hrs.

I can only answer #4. since I just purchased my ticket today from BKK to KS as I am going next week. Take the night train departing BKK at 19:30 and arriving KS at 6:27, then bus from train station to pier and ferry departs from ST at 7:30 and arrives KS at 10:00.

Purchased from the BKK train station (Hua Lamphong) the total price is 948 BHT which is about $27 USD. This price includes train ticket (upper bunk, add 70 BHT for lower bunk), bus ticket to pier, and ferry ticket to KS.

You can buy at any travel agency or TAT (Tourism Authority of Thailand) but they all gave me higher quotes as they need to make their profit so I just headed out to the Hua Lamphong. Have fun!

Correction!

The night train departs BKK and arrives to Surat Thani (ST), but my ticket was all transportation from BKK to Ko Samui (KS), which they refer to as joint ticket.

All I can help you with...there is no bus or train to Samui. You will have to book a flight.
Depending on the kind of adventure you like...you will find all the information you need in Samui.
The weather should be good. You will have a wonderful stay. Most accomodation on Samui is good, whether it be expensive or not. You basically just sleep at your hotel/bungalow.

however I havent given up and now planning to go in OCT and this time mite go by Air from Bangkok..
