Dear All,

Thanks for your reply I finally managed to Get booking into Brendanchase B&B in windermere. We are going there as two families 4 adults and 3 kids between 4-7. Can someone suggest things to do and places to visit near windermere. Ideally we would like to have some scenic outings with a few activities for the kids. I know I am asking for too much :-)

We have three full days and stayng in windermere centre.

Bowness is a short walk from Windermere centre where you have options that all can enjoy;
- take one of the cruises round Lake Windermere from Bowness Pier,
- or take a cruise from Bowness to Lakeside to visit the Lakes Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Steam Railway,
- Feed the ducks and swans at Bowness Pier (buy some bread on your walk into Bowness!)
- Visit the World of Beatrix Potter attraction.

Hill Top Farm, where Beatrix Potter lived, is well worth a visit. Take the ferry from Bowness and follow the signposts up to Hill Top. It's a nice walk uphill, but may be too much for the four-year-old. There is also a bus from the ferry.

Some of my favourites are (and for my Kids) Duckys Park Farm near Grange-Over-Sands, Colour Pots in Bowness, The steamers and crusies have already been mentioned. If you visit www.daysoutinfo.co.uk there is loads of stuff on Cumbria, including 2for1 voucher for Lake Aquarium on the Top Attractions in South Lakeland leaflet.

If you have a car Tarn Hows is a great walk and easy for the Kids great view. But you can easily just head of into any of the villages in the central lakes.
