Loooking for somewhere to stay in seoul Posted: Tue March 17, 2009 02:15 PM UTC
Hi
After spending a wonderful 2 weeks in Seoul/Gyeongju last July I will be travelling to S Korea for almost 3 weeks in September this year.
1) I am planning to meet a friend and possibly share accomodation with her for 1st week - so I am looking for somewhere to stay that is cheap, has internet in room, own bathroom and use of washer/dryer. (so far I have found Hotel Biz in Myeon-dong - any one been there?)
2) My husband will fly out for 2nd and 3rd week and we are thinking of going on the Korail/Aju - CROSS COUNTRY TOURS --- Seoul / Gyeongju / Busan / Jeju (5D/4N)(Rail/flightHotel only) has anyone done this???
3) We then intend to visit a friend in Gongju then go to Songnisan National Park for a couple of days - my husband thinks it will be ok even though I only know a limited amount of Korean!!!(No- he does not speak any at all!!) again has anyone been there and know of any cheap accomodation!(bear in mind i am 49years old!!)
4) For the last 2 nights we will stay at the Lotte Hotel Seoul - (i won 2 nights stay in a comp) - so at least i will get a rest before the long flight home!!!
I would be most grateful for any advice on the above!

Welcome back to Korea!
1.For your staying,I recommend you residence hotel, because my business partners were satisfied with this style,
please refer this english website
http://www.koreahotel.com/eng/index.html
2.Ajutour is so nice I think, because it is point-spot tour across the culturally essential cities in South Korea!
3.Gongju and Songnisan area was main region for BAEKJE territory over 1000 years ago,
I think you can visit another cities like Buyeo, Junju,Kwangju or Mokpo etc
these cities are numbered for delicious dishes among the korean people.
please visit korean restaurants in these cities.
4.If you need to see more for Korea, do not forget to visit Forkvillage near Seoul ( http://www.koreanfolk.co.kr/folk/english/index.htm )
in case you was not there before.
Happy Birthday!

Sorry, I have not stayed, nor do I know anyone who has stayed at the Hotel Biz. The some of the cheap love motels may have internet in the rooms, but I've found that typically you need to pay ~$50/night to have room with internet standard. But PC-bangs (PC cafes) are everywhere here and very cheap too.
I have not done the places that you mention by a tour, but have done them individually. They are all good for a visit.
Gongju is also a nice little city with a historic past. You will be more of an oddity there because this is a bit farther off the tourist path. But I speak very little Korean and still managed. You may have to use your hands to talk sometimes, but it should not be a problem.
If you get lost between Gyeongju and Busan, let me know... I'm halfway between them.
