Vancouver One night in Vancouver at which hotel?

WE have one day in Vancouver after our cruise. What downtown hotel or hotel area would be the best location for using the trolley and seeing the sights? I know there is an area to avoid too.

Hi - after our cruise we stayed at the Sutton Place Hotel (www.vancouver.suttonplace.com/) - really nice, great location. Happy Cruising!

if uve got a decent amount of money i suggest the blue horizon on robson street they are not too expensive and right in the heart of downtown..there is also the coast plaza by the beach or Samesun hostels on granville street if you are looking for something cheaper.

YOu might look at the Days Inn on Pender Street. A quiet location at night but near all the areas of the city that you would want to go to. It is only two blocks from Canada Place and the cruise pier. Prices during cruise season are not inexpensive, the Days Inn is a moderate property and has just gone through some rennovations, a nice choice. Robson Street is a tourist street with high prices and you will pay those high prices to stay on this street.

I would recommend the Westin Bayshore Inn. To be able to sit on your balcony and watch the seaplanes land and take off in the morning is a great way to start. I also like The Granville Island Hotel.

WE want to see Vancouver and are not sure of what area is the best. It seems like Robson St is the center or am I wrong?

Robson is a shopping and restaurant street. It is in Central Vancouver and busy most of the day. The Trolley and The Big Bus are nice ways of seeing the city.

It's the tourist rip off street. The stores you will see there are stores you will see elsewhere in any big city, compared to Vancouver being a small city, trying to be a big city. You can see Robson Street in about a 30 minute walk, doubt it will excite you. You can kill two birds with one stone, walk down Robson Street west to Stanley Park, and then you can walk into the park. Granville Mall where usually there are just people and buses is being compelely torn up, Pacific Centre which is under Granville Mall, is just another strip mall, same stores, same thing again as in all cities, no big deal. Go to Stanley Park, take a ride on the Sea Bus across to North Vancouver, and perhaps if it is a nice day, take the bus to the Gondola and then go up Grouse Mountain. That will keep you busy, and again, check out the Days Inn on Pender or the Ramada on Pender.
