Verona I know I should have asked...

I know I should have asked when I was there but can anyone tell what the orange drink was that everyone seemed to be drinking? It was drunk with ice in large wine glasses? It has been bugging me ever since I came back!

Thanks :)

Hy,
I believe that you are speaking about the SPRITZ, a typical appetizer of the Italian northeast. Ingredients: 5/10 Prosecco, 3/10 of Aperol , 2/10 of sparkling water, 1 slice of orange, ice but every city has one typical recipe of it and the ingredients can change: someone uses the Campari and not the Aperol
Ciao, Marco

It was probably at aperitive time (or after dinner), right?
It was an aperol-spritz (or sprizzato)
Aperol (a light orange spirit) google for more
White whine (still, or a slightly sparking prosecco)
Soda water

I have a tip in my verona page on the sprizzato thing.

Delicious introduction to a meal!
Ciao
Francesco

Francesco, e quando ce la facciamo noi una Spritz-hour?
Noi qui lo preferiamo col campari... lo so che è un abominio ma che ci vuoi fare...

That would be a spritz with aperol. The spritz with campari is a depp pink colour i.e. the colour of campari. In Venice they seem to do 1/3 1/3 1/3 proportions!

Campari, orrore!!! Scherzi a parte, Marco, col Campari non l'ho mai provato, ma in compagnia si fa tutto, no?
Alla prima occasione, allora!

Cheers to you all, fellows!
Ciao
Francesco
