Melbourne Air-fare from Melbourne airport to Sydney
Posted: Mon March 16, 2009 08:25 AM UTC
Three of us, adult ladies will be going to Melbourne for 2 weeks from early to mid May 09. Planning to visit Sydney for a few days as well during the 2 weeks period. Would like to know the air-fare from Melbourne to Sydney (to & fro). It would be great if any of you could also name a few budget lodgings + price for back packers in Sydney just for a couple of nights stay.

Suggest you check Webjet :http://travel.webjet.com.au/webjettsa/home.aspx?EntryPoint=Flight
for the exact legs/dates to get a comparison between the alternative airlines. Be aware that some of the cheaper airlines fly to Avalon Airport instead of Tullamarine in Melbourne.

Try checking out www.virginblue.com.au and jetstar.com.au to check out budget fares for the dates you may want. Also, take note about the airports the planes will be leaving/arriving in Melbourne when choosing which airline to take.

If you want to be more adventurous and some time to spend, why not try the two-week backtracker pass where you get to travel from Melbourne to Brisbane and make as many stops as you want within the two week period. Check out http://www.countrylink.info/travel_passes/backtracker_pass for more details.

We did it last 2005 when I was still studying at the University of Queensland. We were able to get free return train tickets to Blue Mountains and to Bondi Beach. You also get a day tripper ticket which you can use for trains, buses and ferries around Sydney.

Also have a look at www.flightcentre.com.au. It will show you a comparison in prices.
