Re: Cambodia / Laos Visa Requirements Posted: Sat March 14, 2009 02:38 PM UTC
Cambodia and Laos don't have massive embassies around the world, and they do like tourist dollars, so they make entry easy. Last time I flew into Siem Reap, we were given papers on the plane. On arrival, the officials lined up at the curved desk in the airport. You give your papers, pictures and passport to the official at one end, and after a lot of rubber stamping, it emerges at the other end. It pays to be one of the first people to arrive at immigration.
I bought Cambodian money, but did not need it. Everyone takes dollars first and really don't want Cambodian cash. After 3 days I sold the money back at a loss. Don't buy a lot of local money.
I haven't been to Laos yet, but I expect it is the same.
