Isle of Skye Lenth of stay

Hello everyone,
I am planning on doing a tour of the islands for a week in July for my mothers 80th birthday. Can you sugest how long we should spend in Skye to make the most of it, and what are the accessable sights not to be missed.

I'd say a full day and a night in Skye would probably be enough. Perhaps as your mother will be 80, it would be a good idea to settle for fewer islands at a leisurely pace. I personally like Mull, which has a little theatre and some spectacular scenery. She may find holy island of Iona interesting, especially if you stay over. Although I haven't stayed overnight myself, I've heard others say that it has a terrific atmosphere, especially if you go to evening church services. Remember that accommodation on the islands is limited, so it's a good idea to book ahead - and don't forget to book for meals in advance also as, unless it has changed, having a hotel room doesn't necessarily guarantee you a dinner reservation.

It is just beautiful! I would love to go back there one day. I was there about 4 or 5 years ago and stayed two nights, but could have easily stayed a few more. One of my fond memories was paying the local postoffice a few pounds to jump in for a lift around the island in the back of the postal van (complete with letters and parcels).
