Berchtesgaden crowded in mid-May?

We will be in Germany in mid-May and would ike to go hiking in Bertchesgaden. Will it be very crowded? Is there a way to avoid the crowds, like staying somewhere else?

It won't be crowded, but it's possible that you won't be able to do all the hikes you plan to do. In case there is still snow in the mountains, some of the higher trails can be snow covered.

May is a month with medium rainfall.
The summer months (Juni - August) have roughly twice the amount of precipitation compared to the winter months (December - February). The rest is in between.
Buy you have to be prepared for the possibility of rainfall (or snowfall) any month of the year.
