Malta Island Tour
Posted: Fri March 13, 2009 10:54 PM UTC
We are a couple in late sixties and we are looking for a company who would meet our needs in an organised day tour of the island. We have also found in the past that booking such trips with our travel company can be more expensive than booking direct with a local tour organisation.

Thanks all

To be honest there is so much to see that one day may ot be enough. Depending on how long your holiday there you may like to look at the travel pages in here and do some research/reading of places you want to visit.
Typically, tourists like to see:
Ferry from Sliema to Valletta.
Valletta Grand Harbour tour (boat trip from Sliema quay)
Mdina and Rabat (a good half-day if you visit the catacombs etc)
Craft village (on bus route to Mdina/Rabat)
Dingli Cliffs/Clapham Junction
Marsaxlokk and/or Marsascala
Vittoriosa (Birgu)
Neolithic temples of Hagar Qim....etc.etc..

These are all do-able by the cheap local buses and enable you to actually spend a little time in the places rather than just drive past.
I have a Malta page - there are many excellent travel pages in here - and you can Google or You-Tube many of these.

Oh and these suggestions are only the sights on Malta itself - you might need a trip to Gozo also.
see also here for some panoramic views:

I don't think you need an organized tour in Malta. You could read some pages on that island her on VT; try to google a bit and then build your itinerary. Buses theer are cheap and serve almost the whole island that is not big.

Several cruises are offered on the island also.

You will find no shortage of tours, and do take up Rockaria's offer of direct info.

However, Malta has an excellent bus service, cheap and extensive.

The Maltese drive on the left, so you might also consider hiring a car for a day or two and exploring by yourselves.
