Hi! One thing we should know is that Vietnam have 2 different seasons of climate: the cold season (from Nov to Apr next year) and the hot season (from May to Oct). The average temperature in Hanoi and Halong is about 23 Celcius degree. I do believe from now on until Apr is the best time to travel to Hanoi and Halong Bay since the weather is quite good, sunny days (eventhough some days are little cloudy as it is affected by cold weather coming down from China) and further than that you can benefit many promotion campaigns from hotels, local tour agents ... in the recent days because Vietnam is trying to attract more and more tourists to consolidate their tourism industry in the times of global crisis of economy. Nice trip!

It's not rainy season in the north in Nov December, it's dry and humidity is way down. Temps vary a bit but still hot and cooling a bit at night, would say 23 to 28C and sunny (well normally, weathers changing every year here)

Hi! Jac
We're in Hanoi late Nov. The weather was great. We didn't wear any sweater, pretty warm. In Ha Long Bay is a bit cooler. Rain! It's hard to predict when or where it's going to be. Just take a chance. To me! Nov. & Dec. is a good time. I got a good deal on Ha Long Bay cruise through my hotel where we stayed at. If you like to know more about it. You're fell free to e-mail me @ VT mail.

Best time to visit Hanoi & Halong Bay Bay is during the month of May (before the rainy season). I was there with my nephew same time last year, and will be making another trip with 2 of my nieces this coming May 2009.

Hello! Vietnam is really a long country. It stretches over 1.800 km from north to south, and weather patterns in main tourist cities i.e. Sapa, Hanoi, Hue, Hoi An, Saigon ... are very different, as you see. There are 4 seasons in the North (like other countries in EU or in America) but only 2 seasons in the South (rainy season and dry season). Nov-Apr is not rainy season, but little rainfall; however, tropical storms, typhoon, .. sometimes hit the Northeast portion and Central Coastline provinces of Vietnam. The North is more often cooler than the South. In the last 2 - 3 years, the collest temparature in Hanoi is about 8 - 10 Celcius, in Sapa - 2 Celcius with snow, and Hue is about 12 Celcius. Warm clothes is highly recommended esp. if you tour to Sapa, even though sometimes Sapa is hot. Humidity is really high in Vietnam, up to 85% in most of the days. Another thing I would like to tell is your travel time is in high season of tourism in Vietnam, so if possible please try to book flights, trains .. asap to make sure that you will be on right place at the right as you plan. PM me for any further queries. Love Vietnam! Nice trip!
