Looking to take a Ryanair flight to Girona in July 2009 and looking for advice on resorts/hotels. Travelling alone and looking for relaxation/beach holiday daytime and a decent nightlife. Which resort should I choose? Was looking at Lloret de Mar or Callela but any resort which suits my needs would be ok. Also what hotels can anyone recommend that are reasonably priced but do have a bar, restaurant, etc. Also is it easy to get from Girona Airport to this area by public transport? Many thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi Gary
We stayed in Pineda de Mar last october and whislt it was on th everge of closing down it was "lively" enough for us - even then - the beach area is nice and the train runs along the coastline through Lloret- Malgrat Santa Susanna ( both the latter two places were still like "blackpool in the sun" even at that time of year so i suspect his may be a little more to your liking - although I would be tempted to stay up in Pineda and get the train into Santa Susanna/ Malgrat - rock the night away -and go back in a taxi ( or early train- if you are intending staying out very late - as if LOL)
We stayed in Hotel Stella booked through Alpharooms and used Resorthoppa to transfer from and to the hotel - although there are public bus services running - depending on your flight time (( ryanair do "silly oclock" flights mostly)) - cost us about 32 or 33quid return for two -so not bad really cos it is a fair run ( about 45-50 mins)
hope you find something
Julie

i've just booked a 3 star hotel in lloret de mar - hotel mundial. haven't stayed there before and can't comment on what it's like until after i've visited (31st May for 1 week) but if you're looking for reasonable accommodation costs i booked a week for two, half board and the cost was £195 - for both of us!!
To get this deal you need to book through hotels.co.uk. Hotel mundial has an offer on for the itme i'm staying where you get 40% off if you book 7 nights. Then add the code HC1RXMSE10NIGHT and this gives you £10 off per night - you must book by 26th April but stays can be up to 31st Dec

and scroll down to Hotels.co.uk
Hope this helps
Ps we're thinking of hiring a car to get from the airport - it's not too expensive when there's a few of you

I always do this, as should everyone else who uses an aircraft.

car hire was £85 but we will be driving around virtually every day for sightseeing so i htink it is worth the extra cost (and no hassle waiting for buses etc).
However, you quoted very cheap prices to get to Blanes
thanks
