Rhodes (Island) Travel Forum

How many days would you recommend to stay on the island for a proper visit? One week? Maybe more?

It all depends on how hectic you want your visit to be
you could actually spend a couple of days in the old town itself and still not see everything there is in there

If you are driving this would make things easy but there is public transport around the island ( it just takes some planning - and is more available in high season )

i could quite happily live there

Unfortunately or fortunately, Rhodes o Rodi per gli Italiani, is a big island and you need a lot of time to "discover" the island! Last September, I was there again for a week and in the end I realized that I hardly visited "the essential sites"!
You should count at least 3 days for the Old City of Rhodes: 4 museums, the Palace of the Grand Master, some churches, some old houses, the Synagogue and too many coat-of-arms.
Lindos is a must, you should spend at least a whole day!
Beaches, beaches, beaches, so many beaches!
Filerimos is another must!
Kallithea and its "Thermae", another must!

As you are an Italian, you should spend a lot of time to discover "the Italian Heritage" of Rhodes.A lot of wonderful buildings, churches, houses and many more in Italian colonial style, is something of the architectural heritage left by the Italian Occupation!

you would be surprise how many [old] people speak italian there. a scooter or a car is a must in Rhodos, Í've been there three times, a week each one, and I did not visit all yet, sure I'll go there again. I never did it for Rhodos, but I think the best and cheapest way to go there is a last-minute, maybe flight only and both those are weekly, better stay a week and go back again, after first time I did already know where to go, what to do...

I don't want to talk Italian in Greece! I'm going to talk Greek there. I think I've learned around 20 words in Greek. I visited Greece several times.
