The Actic region isn't the cheapest place in the world.
However, I'm seaching for low-budget trips destination east greenland (around disko bay) for about 3 weeks. Who can give me some advice? No hotels...I'm not afraid of walking or sharing rooms. Former greenland travellers also very welcome to respond!! Best regards, Maudy |

I´m a bit confused because you both mentioned east coast and Disko Bay which is on the west coast. I live in Sondrestrom on the westcoast and I have never been on the east coast. However, I´ve been to Jakobshavn (Ilulisat) which is in the Disko Bay area. The town is very pretty and there is a spectacular scenery. I would defently recommend a visit. Airfares with AirGreenland (the only aircompany in Greenland) is approx. 450 US$ from Sondrestrom. Airfare from Denmark to Sondrestrom is apprx. 600-800 US$ Both Sondrestrom and Jakobshavn have hostels, let me know if you want help with that. And, if you are in Sondrestrom, please look me up, I´d love to say hi. Regards Mathilda

Not really what you asked for. Just to let you know that the disko bay area is in western Greenland - not in the south.
While you are there you HAVE to go to Ilulissat (meaning: the icebergs) - it is truely worth a trip.
