Going to Cabo San Lucas.

Should we take cash, travlers checks or pre-paid debit cards?

Some cash, ATM card and a credit card(Debit card) would be best

The peso rate is dropping quite a bit and frequently, so using an ATM for local currency is the best bet. Always best to have a bit of cash, too, but definitely be aware of what rate the vendor (shop, restaurant, etc.) is giving. Look up the exchange rate just before you leave, and if you are on-line there, keep looking it up. At the moment it is over 15 to US$1.00; but not all vendors are tied to it, so you may get better deals at small places (i.e., if they quote in USDollars and then only use 12 or 13 to convert to Pesos and you have acquired Pesos at 14 or 15+.

Take a cash card & use any of the several ATM machines as you need pesos. Your bank card will give you the best exchange rate & you don't have to have a lot of cash on you. Use your credit card for larger purchases & get the good exchange rate. The high end places give you your reciept in both USD & pesos. so you can know what you are paying easily.
